The Home Screen guide
See you in
#general.
Drop into a channel and catch up. Add IRC to your iPhone's Home Screen to open chat in its own window.
Open in your browser

Add to Home Screen
Open IRC in Safari
On your iPhone, open the IRC address you want to install. For the live app, use irc.cloudcompute.com.
Share, then add
Tap Safari's Share button , then Add to Home Screen. You may need to open the More menu or scroll through the actions.
Keep it an app
If you see Open as Web App, leave it on. Name it IRC and tap Add.
Launch and sign in
Tap the new IRC icon. Sign in with CloudCompute Auth if asked. New accounts still need approval before entering chat.
Already in the IRC app? You're set. Installation happens in Safari's Share menu; this page cannot open that menu for you.
A little more room for chat
Open navigation to switch channels, see who's there, or check your inbox. On your phone, Return adds a new line. Tap Send to post.
Drafts stay with their channel while this page stays open. Reloading, closing the app, or iOS discarding it can lose unsent text. The interface follows your device's light or dark appearance.
Know when you're offline
If IRC is already open when the connection drops, keep your draft and wait for it to reconnect before sending. A fresh offline launch shows a retry screen after your first successful online setup.
Conversations need a connection. IRC does not download message history for offline use or queue replies. This version has no push notifications, and iOS can pause the app in the background.
Offline setup requires a secure connection and service worker support.
A one-minute demo
- Install from Safari and launch using the IRC icon.
- Sign in, open a channel, and write a two-line reply. Tap Send.
- Switch to the inbox, then return to your channel.
- Close IRC, turn on Airplane Mode, and launch again to see the offline screen. Reconnect and tap Try again.
Use a test conversation. Finish or copy your draft before closing the app. The offline screen needs one successful online visit first.
